Convexly orderable Groups and Valued Fields

چکیده
We consider the model theoretic notion of convex orderability, which fits strictly between the notions of VC-minimality and dp-minimality. In some classes of algebraic theories, however, we show that convex orderability and VC-minimality are equivalent, and use this to give a complete classification of VC-minimal theories of ordered groups and abelian groups. Consequences for fields are also considered, including a necessary condition for a theory of valued fields to be quasi-VC-minimal. For example, the p-adics are not quasiVC-minimal.

On VC-minimal fields and dp-smallness
In this paper, we show that VC-minimal ordered fields are real closed. We introduce a notion, strictly between convexly orderable and dp-minimal, that we call dp-small, and show that this is enough to characterize many algebraic theories. For example, dp-small ordered groups are abelian divisible and dp-small ordered fields are real closed.
متن کاملΠ1 classes and orderable groups
It is known that the spaces of orders on orderable computable fields can represent all Π1 classes up to Turing degree. We show that the spaces of orders on orderable computable abelian and nilpotent groups cannot represent Π1 classes in even a weak manner. Next, we consider presentations of ordered abelian groups, and we show that there is a computable ordered abelian group for which no computa...
متن کاملP-convexly valued rings
This work is a part of my research in the area of model theory. First we study a particular L-theory of rings whose models are called p-convexly valued domains (the first-order language L is the language of rings equipped with a linear divisibility predicate and predicates for the nth powers). It consists of a p-adic counterpart of Becker’s convexly oredered valuation rings. Then we are interes...
متن کامل1 0 Fe b 20 03 Non - left - orderable 3 - manifold groups
We show that several torsion free 3-manifold groups are not left-orderable. Our examples are groups of cyclic branched covers of S branched along links. The figure eight knot provides simple nontrivial examples. The groups arising in these examples are known as Fibonacci groups which we show not to be left-orderable. Many other examples of non-orderable groups are obtained by taking 3-fold bran...
متن کاملFUZZY HYPERVECTOR SPACES OVER VALUED FIELDS
In this note we first redefine the notion of a fuzzy hypervectorspace (see [1]) and then introduce some further concepts of fuzzy hypervectorspaces, such as fuzzy convex and balance fuzzy subsets in fuzzy hypervectorspaces over valued fields. Finally, we briefly discuss on the convex (balanced)hull of a given fuzzy set of a hypervector space.
